J. Richard Conner
Professor
Homepage
Recent Research

Dr. Conner’s research emphasizes the integration of economics with ecology in the management of grazing lands and related resources. His work has dealt with such issues as how to select the optimal combination of wildlife/livestock enterprises while considering both biological diversity and relative levels and variation in enterprise costs and prices. Much of his work has been devoted to development of integrated biophysical and economic models for analyzing the ecological and economic impacts of alternative technologies and/or policies on agricultural firms and regions.

Recent Research

Dr. McCarl works principally on national level appraisal of environmental issues largely focusing on the appraisal of global climate change, greenhouse gas emission mitigation, El Nino/Southern Oscillation forecast value, air pollution, , agricultural and natural resource conservation policies efforts. He also works on regional analyses within Texas of water use tradeoff issues. Methodologically he works on the use of mathematical programming and risk analysis tools in these settings. Here is a more detailed description of Dr. McCarl's work areas.

Dr. Woodward’s research focuses on a range of topics related to environmental and resource policy. Recent work has focused on the use of market-based policies to achieve environmental goals, especially in the area of water quality. He also has an active program in fisheries economics with a particular emphasis on management when managers face significant uncertainty, a condition which is common in fisheries throughout the world.
